Hi, my name is Jeremiah Fender and I am a lover of Hard Cider, I’m guessing if you are reading this you are too. I am an enjoyer, maker, and connoisseur of cider, (and other fermented beverage). I am certified cider maker through the National Association of Cider Makers (NACM), after taking the fantastic class Cider & Perry Production – Principles & Practice with Peter Mitchell.More information on the class can be found at the Northwest Agriculture Business Center.
I live in the heart of Bend, Oregon lovingly known as Beer Town USA with one brewery for every 4,500 people giving us bragging rights for the most breweries per capita in the state of Oregon, but this site is not about beer it’s about cider and our love of it. I have plans to make Bend Oregon a hotspot for cider aficionados, where you can enjoy a hard cider from any part of the world, and this site is the beginning of my domination plans.
I fell in love with cider when we discovered my wife had an intolerance to Gluten, living in “Beer Town USA” can be tough for a person with gluten intolerance and we wanted to change that. We tried wines, mead, hard liquor, and gluten free beer, you name it, it was quaffed. Unfortunately we could not find a smooth drinking beverage that could compare to beer, until we tried cider. I decided to embark on a learning journey with the ultimate culmination in making and selling my own cider.
I started this website to build community and to share my love and knowledge of cider making and the cider industry. I love the historical aspect of this beverage, the time honored traditions it holds around the world, and its new found resurgence in America.
I have been working on my business plan with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and with mentors from S.C.OR.E. and feel pretty good about it. I am currently looking for funding partners.
I would be honored for you to make this journey with me, let’s get to making and enjoying some damn fine cider.
